Tree Cake, Roast Chicken And Dutch Treat Drink by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients for Tree Cake:

  • Butter  125 gm
  • Vanilla essence  1 tsp
  • Caster sugar  1 1/4 cups
  • Eggs, separated  3
  • Cocoa powder  2/3 cup
  • Water 1/3 cup
  • Milk  3/4 cup
  • Flour  1 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder  1 tsp

For Frosting:

  • Chocolate  60 gm
  • Butter  125 gm
  • Icing sugar  1-1/2 cups

Method:

  1. Beat butter and sugar, add vanilla essence.
  2. Beat in egg yolks, in another bowl mix cocoa powder, water and milk with a whisk so no lumps remain.
  3. Add sifted flour. Beat egg whites in another bowl till soft peaks form, fold in the mixture slowly, pour into a greased and lined Christmas tree shaped pan and brake at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes or till a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool and frost. For the frosting melt chocolate and let cool, beat butter in another bowl till fluffy and add in the chocolate, add the icing sugar and mix till separable frosting is achieved.
  5. Decorate the tree with icing or small sweets.

Ingredients for Roast Chicken:

  • Whole chicken  1
  • Olive oil  1 tbsp
  • Salt  1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper 1/4 tsp
  • Dried oregano 1/4 tsp
  • Dried basil  1/4 tsp
  • Paprika 1/4 tsp
  • Potatoes 3-4 large

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 230 degrees C. Put chicken into a small baking pan.
  2. Rub With Olive oil.
  3. Mix the salt, pepper, oregano, basil and paprika together and sprinkle over chicken.
  4. Add potatoes in the dish as well. Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  5. Lower the oven to 205 degrees C and continue roasting 40 minutes to a minimum internal temperature of 180 degree F (85 degree C).
  6. Let cool to 10-15 minutes and serve.

Ingredients for Dutch Treat Drink:

  • Milk  2 cups
  • Cocoa powder 2 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence  1/2 tsp
  • Honey  2 tbsp
  • Cinnamon  1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend. Pour into a glass and serve.
