Fried Savoury Biscuits by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Flour 1-1/2 cups
  • Whole wheat flour 1/2 cup
  • Plain flour 1 cup
  • Sesame seeds 1-1/2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/4 tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Green chili paste 1 tsp
  • Hot oil/Ghee/Butter 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Mix flour, salt, chili powder, ghee, salt, sesame seeds and cumin seeds and combine.
  2. Knead dough till smooth and firm.
  3. Roll out part of dough thickly.
  4. Use a fork to prick it.
  5. Cut lengthwise about an inch part using knife.
  6. Then cut into 2-inch squares.
  7. Heat enough oil for deep frying and cook squares till they turn golden, fry on medium flame to achieve crispness.
  8. If you reduce flame to low, chips will absorb lot of oil.
  9. Use a slotted ladle to remove onto an absorbent paper and cool.
  10. Cool completely before storing in an air tight metallic container.
