Jackfruit Recipes

Jackfruit is one of the tropical fruits of its own kind and recognised for its unique size, shape and fruity flavour of its bulbs. It is deliciously sweet in taste, with enriched energy, minerals, dietary fiber and vitamins it is free from saturated fats and cholesterol. It is one of the largest tree borne fruits in the world it varies in sizes, shapes, weights, length and diameters. They are probably oblong or round in shape, unripe fruits are green in colour but when it is ripe, they turn to light brown and spread a sweet strong fruity smell in surroundings.

The outer surface of jackfruit is covered with blunt thorn like projections which becomes soft as the fruit ripe. Its interior contains eye catching yellow orange colour edible bulbs, each of these bulbs comprises of sweet flesh that is enclosed by a smooth oval light brown seed. There may be up to 50 to 500 edible bulbs embedded in a single fruit separated by the thin bands of fiber. Jackfruit seed is also encased inside a thin transparent outer cover that is enriched in starch and proteins. It is one of the fruits that is enriched in B complex vitamins, vitamin, vitamin C, riboflavin, niacin and folic acid.
