Surprise Rice Snack by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Sifted rice flour 1 cup
  • Warm oil 2 tbsp
  • Warm water 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Chicken powder 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger 1 small
  • Green chilies 2
  • Red beans a few
  • Shredded chicken or chickpeas

Method:

  1. Blend a small piece of ginger and 2 green chilies to make paste.
  2. In a bowl, add the sifted flour, 2 tbsp of hot oil and mix with spatula to form crumbs, than gradually add water.
  3. Do not add too much otherwise it will be to pasty.
  4. Season it with salt, chicken powder, cumin seeds, sesame seeds and ginger chili paste.
  5. Keep folding and mixing until it forms dough.
  6. Let it rest for at least an hour.
  7. Then make small balls, flat the dough balls and add in 1 kidney bean or chicken or chickpea and wrap the bean with dough, make it boil again.
  8. Bake the dough balls at 180 degrees C for 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
  9. Shake the oven tray after every 2 minutes to prevent burning.
  10. Serve with salsa dip or any sauce.
