Ingredients:

  • Black chickpeas 1/2 kg
  • Soda by carb 1 tsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Onion 1

For Chutney:

  • Tamarind pulp 1 cup
  • Cumin roasted & crushed 1 tsp
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Crushed red pepper 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Water 1/4 cup
  • Chopped green chilies 4
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  • Crushed crackers as required

Method:

  1. For chutney: Put all ingredients except water and crushed crackers in saucepan and cook for 10 minutes until thick.
  2. For channay: Heat oil, put onion and saute it for 5 minutes.
  3. Then add black chickpeas with chutney and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Now garnish with chopped onion, chopped coriander, chopped green chilies, chaat masala and crushed crackers and serve.
