Channa Kofta by Chef Gulzar

Ingredients:

For Kofta:

  • Beef mince 1/2 kg
  • Onion 1
  • Egg 1
  • Bread slices 2-3
  • Chopped garlic 1
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • Baking powder 1/2 tsp
  • Oil for deep fry
  • Salt as required
  • Coriander for garnish

For Chana Masala:

  • Chickpeas 1/2 kg
  • Chicken stock 1 jug
  • Onion 2
  • Ginger paste 1 tbsp
  • Chopped tomatoes 2-3
  • Whole spice powder 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Green chili 5-6
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander 1/2 bunch
  • Oil 2 cup
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. For kofta: Put mince with onion, egg, bread slices, chopped garlic, chili powder, cumin seeds, black pepper and salt and make paste.
  2. Now make koftay.
  3. Heat oil in pan, fry koftay on low heat and keep it aside.
  4. For chana masala: Soak chickpeas with soda overnight.
  5. Then wash chickpeas nicely in morning.
  6. Put stock and chickpeas in pot and soft it.
  7. When chickpeas are soft, then remove from stove.
  8. Heat oil in pan and fry onion until brown.
  9. Then roast ginger garlic paste in it.
  10. Now put spice powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin seeds, black pepper and salt and roast for 2-3 minutes.
  11. When masala dries, put tomatoes and mix it nicely.
  12. When masala cook, mix chickpeas and koftay and cook until chickpeas tender and masala is mixed nicely.
  13. In end, take out in dish, garnish with coriander and serve.
