From the family of ginger comes another herb known as turmeric which is inhabitant to Southwest India. Boiling turmeric for 30 to 40 minutes, making it dry and then grinding it gives us turmeric powder which has a number of healing benefits. It is used as a spice mostly in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. It has a warm and bitter taste and it was used extensively in India and China as a medicine. In India, turmeric powder is considered very holy and used in many ceremonies. The yellowish-orange color of it is used as a dye also throughout India. It is harmless until and unless we take the right amount, if we exceed then it may have some side effects.
