Tamarind Chutney by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Tamarind 2 cups
  • Jaggery 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Black salt 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  • All spice powder 2 tsp
  • Raisins 10-15

Method:

  1. Soak tamarind in 2 cups warm water for 1 hour and pass through strainer.
  2. Try to take out as much pulp as possible.
  3. In pan, add jaggery and tamarind pulp and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Now add remaining ingredients and keep stirring on low heat till thickness.
  5. Turn off heat.
  6. Once it cools down, refrigerate in in glass container and use as desired.
