Russian Salad

  • Potatoes, carrots, salad, peas, cauliflower, beet root, pumpkin 1/2 pound
  • Raw tomatoes 2 oz
  • Salt to taste


  1. Cut fine potatoes, carrots and pumpkin.
  2. Peel peas, take out leaves of cauliflower and cut inner part.
  3. Boil vegetables in water with 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  4. Boil till they become soft.
  5. Ingredients for Mayonnaise Sauce:
  6. Egg yolks 2
  7. Vinegar 2 tbsp
  8. Cayenne pepper (chili powder) little
  9. Sugar 2 tbsp
  10. Mustard 1/2 tsp
  11. Milk 4 oz (1 cup)
  12. Olive oil 1 tsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Method:
  15. Separate two egg yolks from whites and place into a bowl.
  16. Add chili powder, sugar, mustard, olive oil, salt and milk and mix altogether.
  17. Then boil and keep on stirring till mixture thickens a little.
  18. After it is cools add vinegar.
  19. Pour it over boiled vegetable salad and serve.
