Koftay Recipe

For Kofta:

  • Chicken mince 1/2 kg
  • Onion small 1
  • Garlic 1 tsp
  • Ginger 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Yogurt 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves 2 tsp

For Gravy:

  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Ginger paste1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves paste 3 tbsp
  • All spice 1/2 tsp
  • Onion 2
  • Green chilies paste 3 tsp
  • Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste


  1. For koftay: Grind all ingredients in grinder.
  2. Then make koftay and keep it aside.
  3. For gravy: Then heat oil in pan.
  4. Then put onion and fry it.
  5.  When onion is soft, put ginger and garlic and roast it.
  6. Then put yogurt, coriander leaves paste, green chilies paste and salt and roast it on low flame.
  7. When oil separates, put 1/2 cup hot water.
  8. When it boils, put koftay and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Then turn it, cover it and cook for 15-20 minutes.
  10. When koftay cooks, take out in dish, sprinkle all spice and serve with hot   rice.

Koftay is very common dish in Pakistan. Chicken mince is grinded and made koftay. Then cooked in yogurt gravy and served with hot rice. You can also use beef or mutton or fish.
