Gajar ka halwa or carrot ka halwa is a savory dessert of Pakistan. It is one of the delicacies of Pakistan cuisine. It is usually made in winters when the season of carrots arrive. These seasonal carrots are large and very sweet in taste.

Best Gajar Ka Halwa Recipe


  • Carrots 8-10.
  • Sugar 3/4 cup.
  • Chopped pistachio 5-6.
  • Ghee 3 tbsp.
  • Grated khoya 1 cup.
  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp.
  • Cashew nuts 5-6.
  • Raisins 10-15.
  • Almond slice 5-6.


  1. Clean and wash the carrots
  2. Cut them into small pieces.
  3. Now grate them in a machine or a grater
  4. Take a pan and put ghee in it.
  5. Add carrots and mixed it in ghee.
  6. Now in this add green cardamom powder.
  7. Add sugar in this at this stage.
  8. Now cook it.
  9. Cook the mixture until all the water dries, it will take approximately 10 minutes.
  10. Add khoya after removing it from the stove and let it be for 15 minutes.
  11. Add all the nuts and mix it nicely.
  12. Serve.

This was one of the various methods of making gajar ka halwa. There are several other methods of preparing Gajar ka halwa. Some people cook it in milk, others use water. Some people garnish is with nuts like Walnuts, almonds, pistachio etc while some garnish it with silver paper and khoya.
