Punjabi Gajar Ka Zarda

Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice 1/2 kg
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Grated carrots 2 cups
  • Coconut slice 1/2 cup
  • Almonds 10
  • Pistachio slice 2 tbsp
  • Crushed cardamom 6
  • Ghee 1/2 cup
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1/2 kg

Method:

  1. Add sugar in ghee and water and cook until sugar dissolves.
  2. Now put rice, mix it nicely and cook on high flame.
  3. Don't cover pan.
  4. Now add carrot, cook it and simmer it on low flame for 15 minutes.
  5. Take out zarda on plate, garnish with almonds, pistachio and coconut slice and serve.

Punjabi Gajar Ka Zarda is delicious sweet rice dish. It is prepared with basmati rice & carrots, cooked in ghee and garnished with dry fruits.
