Madrasi Dahi Baray Recipe

Ingredients:

For Baray:

  • Maash daal 1/2 kg
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/3 tsp
  • Oil for fry
  • Salt to taste

For Masala:

  • Red chilies whole 5-6
  • Black pepper whole 1 tsp
  • Cumin whole 1 tbsp
  • Black salt 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

For Green Chutney:

  • Tamarind paste 1/2 cup
  • Mint leaves 1 cup
  • Green chilies 5-6
  • Salt to taste

For Red Chutney:

  • Garlic cloves 3-4
  • Tomato paste 1/2 cup
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste

For Garnish:

  • Yogurt 1/2 kg
  • Chaat masala 1 tsp

Direction:

  1. Put baking soda in maash daal and soak it overnight.
  2. Now put in grinder and grind it.
  3. Then put garlic paste, cumin powder and salt and mix it nicely.
  4. Heat oil in pan and spread oil on hands.
  5. Then fry paste like pakoray and keep it on plate.
  6. For masala: Grind all ingredients in grinder.
  7. Masala is ready.
  8. For green chutney: Grind all ingredients in grinder.
  9. Green chutney is ready.
  10. For red chutney: Grind all ingredients in grinder.
  11. Red chutney is ready.
  12. Put yogurt and water in bowl, beat it nicely and put in dish.
  13. Then put baray.
  14. Put remaining yogurt.
  15. Then put red chutney and green chutney.
  16. Garnish with masala and sprinkle chaat masala.
  17. It is ready.

Madrasi Dahi Baray is delicious side dish. Baray is prepared with maash daal, grinded and fried. Then put on yogurt in dish. Topped with yogurt, green chutney, red chutney and masala.
