Goanese Chicken Biryani by Shireen Anwer

Ingredients:

  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • Mint leaves 15
  • Green chilies 30
  • Ginger garlic 2 tbsp
  • Onion 1
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • All spice 1 tsp
  • Baby potatoes 10
  • Brown onion 3/4 cup
  • Saffron 1/2 tsp
  • Warm milk 1/2 cup
  • Ghee 1/4 cup
  • Cream 3 tbsp
  • Salt 1-1/2 tsp
  • Rice 600 gm
  • Oil 3/4 cup

Method:

  1. Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger garlic and onion and make paste.
  2. Now marinate chicken with grinded paste, onion, all spice and salt for 1 hour.
  3. Then heat oil, put 1/2 cup brown onion with marinated chicken, cover it and cook until chicken tender.
  4. Now put deep fried potatoes and cook until chicken and potatoes tender and thick gravy remains.
  5. Then spread boiled rice on chicken.
  6. Then mix saffron in warm milk, ghee, remaining fried onion and cream, sprinkle it, cover it and cook for 15 minutes till it is ready.
