Ingredients:

  • White turnip 1/2 kg
  • Mutton 1/2 kg
  • Finely chopped onion 2
  • Lemons 3
  • Finely chopped green chilies 4
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves 1 bunch
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder 2 tsp
  • All spice as required
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Put mutton, onion, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, salt and hot water in pot and cook it.
  2. Now peel turnip, cut into 2 pieces, heat oil in separate pan, fry it slightly and keep it.
  3. When meat tender, add yogurt, turnip and sugar, roast it little and put 2 cups hot water.
  4. When turnip tender, add all spice and lemon juice and simmer it.
  5. When oil comes up, put coriander leaves, green chilies and lemon juice.
  6. Serve it with hot hot naan.

Shaljam Gosht is tasty dish. It is prepared with turnip and mutton. Served with hot naan and raita.
