Chocolate Doughnuts by Zarnak Sidhwa

Ingredients:

  • Flour 2 cup
  • Sugar 3/4 cup
  • Cocoa powder 1/2 cup
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Baking soda 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Milk 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp
  • Eggs 2
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Butter (melted) 2 tbsp

For the Glaze:

  • Cream 1 tbsp
  • Milk 1 tbsp
  • Butter 1/4 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
  • Corn syrup 2 tsp
  • Chocolate 2 oz
  • Chocolate chips to sprinkle
  • Colorful sprinkles to top
  • Icing sugar 1-1/4 cups

Method:

  1. For doughnuts: Mix dry ingredients in bowl.
  2. Beat in eggs, milk, vanilla and butter.
  3. Beat until well blended.
  4. Lightly grease doughnut pan.
  5. Fill each doughnut cup about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake donuts in preheated oven at 190 degrees C for about 10 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool slightly, remove from pan.
  8. While cooling, make chocolate glaze.
  9. In saucepan mix together cream, milk, butter, vanilla and corn syrup.
  10. When butter is completely melted, turn heat to low and add in the chocolate.
  11. Remove from heat and whisk in the icing sugar.
  12. Dip each doughnut into glaze, allow to cool.
  13. Sprinkle with any toppings or sprinkles or chocolate chips.
  14. Allow chocolate to set and serve.
