Daal Bhindi

Ingredients:

  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder 1/4 tsp
  • Fennel seeds powder 1/4 tsp
  • All spice 1/4 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Okra (bhindi) 2 cups
  • Onion slice 1
  • Ginger 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 3-4
  • Coconut milk 1-1/2 cup
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Tur daal (cooked) 1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves few
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Heat oil, put okra, fry it slightly and keep it aside.
  2. Now fry onion in pan and add green chilies, ginger and curry leaves.
  3. Now put masalay and fry it.
  4. Now put 3/4 cup coconut milk and bring to boil.
  5. Then add daal, okra, salt and lemon.
  6. When gravy is thick, put remaining coconut milk and serve with hot rice.

Daal Bhindi is delicious dish. The combination of tur daal & okra (bhindi) and addition of coconut milk is amazing. Try this new dish and serve with rice or naan.
