Halwa Puri Recipe

Halwa Puri is very common and popular breakfast in Pakistan. You can make it home easily.

Ingredients:

For Puri:

  • Maida 2 cups
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Flour 1 cup
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Oil for fry

For Halwa:

  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Green cardamom 5
  • Ghee 1 cup
  • Water 3 cups
  • Yellow color 1 tsp
  • Almonds as required
  • Pistachios as required

For Aloo ki Bhujia:

  • Potatoes boiled 1/2 kg
  • Onion seeds 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves few
  • Mustard 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds 1 tsp
  • Green chilies 2
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp 1/4 cup
  • Oil 4 tbsp

For Chana:

  • Chickpeas (soaked over night) 1/2 kg
  • Onions 2
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tbsp
  • Water 1 liter
  • Salt to taste
  • White cumin 1 tbsp
  • All spice 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp

Direction:

  1. For puri: Mix flour, salt and sugar in maida and knead soft dough with lukewarm water.
  2. Then keep it in warm place for one hour.
  3. Then make small portions and roll it.
  4. Then heat oil and fry puri.
  5. Then take out in tissue paper so that it absorbs oil.
  6. Serve with halwa, aloo ki tarkari and chanay ki tarkari.
  7. For halwa: Cook sugar with water and yellow color in pan until sugar dissolves in water.
  8. Then heat ghee in pot and crackle cardamom.
  9. Then add semolina and roast until golden brown.
  10. Then add sugar syrup and cook on low flame
  11. When semolina leaves ghee, take out in dish.
  12. Then garnish with almonds and pistachios and serve with puri.
  13. For aloo ki bhujia: Heat oil and put curry leaves.
  14. When it fries, add remaining ingredients except potatoes, green chilies and tamarind pulp and cook for 2 minutes.
  15. Now put potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  16. Then put green chilies and tamarind pulp and simmer it for 2 minutes.
  17. Then take out in dish and serve with puri.
  18. For chana: Ghee ghee and fry onion until light brown.
  19. Then add ginger garlic paste and all spices and roast it.
  20. Then put chickpeas and water and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  21. Then take out in dish and serve with puri.

Halwa Puri is tasty dish. Puri is prepared with maida & flour and fried.. Halwa is prepared with semolina and cooked with sugar syrup. Aloo ki bhujia is prepared with potatoes, green chilies & tamarind pulp and cooked. Chana is prepared with chickpeas and cooked with spices. Serve all together.
